Plato was correct when he said that the poets should not lie when writing that God should be blamed for the injustices in the world. I see this as the main reason for atheism among my peer groups. They see or suffer ‘injustice’ and so conclude there is no God.

This the coding insecurity of monotheism. If there is only one God then He MUST be to blame for both good and evil. The Greeks/Romans had a pantheon of gods and could pass off different aspects of life to various gods.

Christianity tried to amend this by having men be the cause of evil via Satan. Of course men don’t like taking the blame (the main insecurity) and as civilization progressed, guilt was less needed as skin in the game was reduced.

In modern fiction, writers consistently transgress and say there is no God because there is evil in the world, exploring this nihilism in their work. The worlds created by the novelist are lies and they should not be read.

actually, there was a complaint about ascribing evil to ANY God; this was a criticism of the Illiad, as I recall. Polytheism still includes a "divinity principle" that is unitive, the only real way around this is ditheism, which posits two divine forces, one good, one evil

Ah OK so it was more on Pandora's box? I misinterpreted that. Manichean theology is similar to good Vs evil yes?

yeah, the issue is that some people were okay with the gods doing whatever, being good and evil, but others felt ascribing any evil act to any of the gods was blasphemous. Manicheanism or ditheism is an attempt to logically construct a metaphysics to fix this issue.
