The NPC meme is funny and I think the left is right to want to annihilate it.

the left has realized something about the NPC meme that the right hasn't, primarily, that it is a "thought which stops all thought." We can easily construct a scenario in which even Curt Doolittle is running someone else's script (maybe Hume's?)

as such, it makes public discourse impossible. Anyone can be construed reasonably as an NPC (and it's a powerful image) and thus there is no reason to have any sort of conversation with them.

Moreover I think Doolittle made a jibe suggesting that those who run others scripts rather than writing them aren't human - oof!

But let's be honest, I doubt most on the left realize this, they're just looking for a reason to clamp down on speech that might confer power to their opponents. It actually doesn't matter that the NPC meme is basically a chemical weapon!

For my part, I think public discourse is overrated. This is my own opinion.
