here's another one: few today remember that the party system is generally instituted so that someone else can know the specifics about who politicians are, you just vote the party line to affirm their work in lining up people for your interests.

civics has been made unimportant - and intentionally so in many cases (some indirect) - for a good reason. The structure of the USG is irrelevant to 99% of people's lives. Apart from knowing laws that apply to you, the rest is time and effort most people don't have to spare.

if we talk about the descent from say, what was expected in 1800 to now, we can't ignore the demographic shift and the expansion in franchise. More education isn't going to solve a problem that has already solved itself.
