1 - OK, a few comments on the executive order and what it is doing and not doing. Fellow immigration works - feel free to comment and tell me where I am getting it wrong.

2- Making it difficult or impossible to apply for asylum at ports of entry seems to be the plan so that people are forced to enter illegally and then be arrested and detained. The "appropriate time" language seems code for "virtually never".pic.twitter.com/srlutnSoQI

3 - Obviously, this is a gross violation of the letter and spirit of our asylum laws. People are reporting being turned away for weeks straight. Hopefully, a court will step in (not holding my breath for Congress).

4 - The Administration has left a huge loophole that will allow family separation to continue. I hope reporters pick up on this (one actually asked me already about this language).pic.twitter.com/33gkOc4XAB

"Where appropriate" and consistent with "available resources" means "if we feel like it.". In other words, when all you reporters go home and protests on the street stop, we can resume. DON'T BUY IT. Congress needs to tie the Administration's hands.pic.twitter.com/vNPBuvnDVj

6 - Policy only applies to parent -child relationships. I am aware of instances of children traveling with grandparents, aunts, uncles, older siblings, etc. That could be an issue for some.pic.twitter.com/FVJ7BgmDuW

7- another place for mischief. The Administration believes parents who bring their kids across the border illegally are smugglers. Seems they can use that logic as a reason to separate. In other words, to "protect" the kids.pic.twitter.com/Zi9d1AQz6q

9- More BS. Flores is supposed to prevent long term detention of kids. Parents are being arrested for misdemeanor charge and should not be detained indefinitely until court ruling -years-as is the current plan. They should be released if they have an asylum claim.pic.twitter.com/4gC9mkGYZ5

10- One that makes sense is prioritizing cases for detained people. But they must have meaningful access to justice. They need time to prepare and the ability to get legal help. You can be sure this WH will do everything in their power to prevent that.pic.twitter.com/VmWQcac28q

That's it for my initial comments. I'm sure there will be a lot of analysis coming shortly from the asylum/detained immigration law specialists.

Do you know who/which agency is going to handle reuniting the current families that have been broken apart. Also worried about the young teenage boys who look like they could age-out before long & then be separated (again) from their parents - this time the parent's applications.

Available resources? That’s going to be a problem in reuniting the families & keeping them together. A huge built-in Trump excuse. We will all be watching.
