@mjtsai If your site wants to allow third-party apps to represent it, not just your app, you can do so. :)

@grynspan Yes, but not sure how that helps users of third-party Twitter clients.

@mjtsai It's up to Twitter to support third-party clients.

@grynspan And most people will have the official Twitter app installed, even if they don't prefer it, so they can verify their identity.

@mjtsai @grynspan What role does the official Twitter app play in verifying a user’s identity? I’ve never heard of this.

@wklj @mjtsai Twitter is the authoritative owner of their links. If they want to allow third-party apps, it’s up to them. cc/@grynspan

@jonathandavis Via multiple overlapping "details" dictionaries? Any way for the user to pick which app is used in that case?

@mjtsai Users can remove the app they don’t want to use.

@jonathandavis I want to use Tweetbot, but I can't remove the official Twitter app because I need it for 2FA.

      Jonathan Grynspan ‏@grynspan 22 Sep 2015

@mjtsai @jonathandavis Twitter doesn't need 2 allow the 2FA path for 3rd-party clients. They could restrict that one to the official client.

@grynspan My point was that if you have to uninstall the official client to give another one priority, you can't then use the official one.

@mjtsai App ordering in the JSON file is respected when using arrays, so (if a site wants) they could prioritize third-party clients.

@grynspan Cool. Would be nice if that were documented.

@mjtsai If the documentation is incomplete or can be improved, please file a radar and send me and @jonathandavis the radar number.
