Most common question about Touch Bar: does the blank spot to the left of Esc work as a touch target. Answer: half of it does.pic.twitter.com/uu3qU1G8tt

In practice, it works fine as an Esc key. The touch area is generous enough that you don’t have to look. You’ll miss the key click though.

So now the question: remap CapsLock to Esc or to Hyper?

it is shift option command ctrl at once. @ttscoff designed this solution for shortcuts :)

we should rename the caps lock key to the “trump” key.

it's rather just disable it and remap it to something more useful :)

i’m a control key in the capslock key area person, just like NeXT keyboards had it. :)

Unexpected that the touch area does not extend all the way? Or unexpected that it extends as much as it does?

Extend it all the way and let us use as a customizable shortcut for expose, app launcher, notifications, etc.

The area to the left of the escape key? I think that would be a terrible idea.

so now how do you feel about the entire lower clamshell half turning into touch input + display? I still think that's the end goal.

Could be the goal, but touch keyboard would have be 10x (or more) better than iPad’s.
