The idea that democracies are hostile to capitalists and incompatible with business is insane imo. Democracies take their chunk but at least it's a conversation, while Jack Ma can disappear at any moment in an autocracy. The sovereign doesn't magically do what you want.

It’s especially good in the US where businesses can lobby whatever rules they want with any amount of money

Could argue that corporate lobbying is an extended arm of democracy. The companies big enough to lobby are big enough bc domestic citizens are dependent upon what they provide, whether it's gas, groceries, cell phones. Consumers indirectly voting with their wallets.

And they're also basically massive ships that carry their employees and retirees to material security. Corporations Bad can't be a genuine viewpoint for a serious person over the age of 22.
