Indeed, that's a particular socio-economic class you are talking about. People with the means to look for a life better than what they can have, in India. That's not privilege. That's, like you said, middle class.

Also, immigration from india, like earlier from Europe, has been from pockets. For every north-easterner, you find in the US probably you will see 20 Andhra folks. And I am assuming they aren't just Brahmins. Career trends in India are highly geocentric.

facts. and it's like a few niche castes from andhra too (kamma, reddy). odds are at a big tech co there's some mf in your org who grew up in the same 2000 person village as my dad
