A lot of people get into drugs of many varieties — some of just afford to do so in the privacy of four walls and a roof
If drug addiction was the cause of homelessness then West Virginia should have one of the highest homelessness rates in the country (and not one of the lowest)

It solves them being homeless but not addiction and poverty. Studio apartments could also be much cheaper than $1100 if not for zoning laws etc, that's expensive in a lot of Midwestern cities!

The fact that SF spent $65k/year per tent in a homeless encampment instead of just legalizing and subsidizing the construction of housing much cheaper than $65k/year should be fairly indicative of how the main constraint to solving homelessness is political, not economic 🤷🏻♂️
