The fact that there are ZERO indigenous groups on the planet, past or present, who adhere to a vegan diet tells me that veganism is a modern sociopolitical movement based on the first world privileges of industrial agricultural and access to grocery stores. I’ll die on this hill.

I've had vegan friends who agree with this take and say it's still wrong to hurt animals given our easy access to alternatives

literally the fact that most native cultures will use every part of the animal - meat, hide, bones - for various uses as well as blessing the animal before & after killing & eating shows that veganismo =/= treating animals with respect/morality

I admire this particular vegan friend who gave zero guilt and even said things smelled good etc but for her she won’t do it. Easy to live with.
