The fact that there are ZERO indigenous groups on the planet, past or present, who adhere to a vegan diet tells me that veganism is a modern sociopolitical movement based on the first world privileges of industrial agricultural and access to grocery stores. I’ll die on this hill.

That’s a fine position, as long as they’re growing their own veggies and not partaking of industrial ag products like corn, wheat, and soy. Thousands of animals are killed in the planting and harvesting of those products. Many more deaths than the 1 cow I eat each year.

Isn't the argument pretty straightforward? 1. Animals are living beings capable of suffering. 2. Suffering is bad. 3. We have the means to not exploit or slaughter animals. I think in 100 years meat will be lab produced and slaughtering animals will be morally reprehensible.
