Every time I listen to a podcast on web3 I get confused because it sounds like the speakers haven’t bought something with a credit card online before.

Think you are missing the whole “decentralized” aspect of “web3”.
Credit card companies can turn off your “money” with nothing more than a strongly worded letter from the right ppl/organization etc.

True. This is indeed a significant hurdle for mass adoption. But it doesn’t mean it is a fool’s errand. Important problem to solve. Mass adoption will require Trojan horse compelling use case.
