People are amazed with Github Copilot and I don't get why. I shut it off. It's mostly annoying.

Yes thank you. I code slower when i try to use it because I'm examining every chunk it throws at me to figure out if that's really what i wanted

Sometimes it is but it's usually not groundbreaking stuff, and it doesn't make up for all the times it isn't and I'm reading its boneheaded missed guess

It’s great if you’re coding in a language you don’t actually know
e.g. it makes me, a humble python programmer, into a html/js/css “full stack” behemoth
Also it’s just pretty good at saving you from having to think through complicated array index BS

I tried it out initially, shut it off, then eventually got back into it and vibing with it now. It's still kinda shitty a lot of the time but I think it genuinely is improving my productivity at this point. Using it is kind of a skill like learning how to google things properly
