I am not worried about AGI going full skynet on us. I am worried about quite good AI models rendering whole professions obsolete in the span of just a few years, and the economic and social upheaval that will come with that.

People said the same thing about the automobile. Technology is not the problem. It’s the leadership social structure we have to worry about

Just because you’re not aware of the collapse in the horse industry and all the problems that created for people doesn’t mean it didn’t happen

I’m aware it happened, but having 100% less shit in the street and whole new industries popping up was an extremely positive result…UBI will curb a lot of the pain, but you can’t build a world around relics.

I agree, there will be short term pain and possibly catastrophe, but there is no choice but to move forward. China and the rest of the world are going full steam ahead…I mean…if the worlds going to end, a robot apocalypse is a pretty epic way to go.

But that’s why I said leadership is the key. The potential for UBI and other programs to ease the transition is key to this not going sideways.

But even this reads to me like "nbd we just need to change the monolithic and currupt systems" and everything will be fine. Part of the concern is we don't have a good (real world) model for UBI at that scale. Another part is trust is at an all time low in "leadership".
