I am not worried about AGI going full skynet on us.
I am worried about quite good AI models rendering whole professions obsolete in the span of just a few years, and the economic and social upheaval that will come with that.

I feel mad stupid/childish about this but I don’t think I genuinely internalised the whole “destruction is creation” thing in a personal way before thinking about it in AI terms.
It’s almost certainly going to obliterate many of our local maximums, individuals will be hurt.

It’s basically unavoidable that there’ll be many personal apocalypses, esp. without a more active nanny state.
The highs on the other side will be so much higher though.

Like I’ve already seen illustrators and art students in sama’s replies and twitter in general, wondering how Dall-E is going to affect their life.
Feels weird reading those and knowing deep down that reassuring replies would be dishonest, at least to a significant chunk of them
