I am not worried about AGI going full skynet on us.
I am worried about quite good AI models rendering whole professions obsolete in the span of just a few years, and the economic and social upheaval that will come with that.
I really can't even do the fantasy of all the accountants getting to leave that work and become artists or whatever because nobody will buy their art. The robots will do it so much better.
How crazy is that
I love ML and having been working with it for like 4 yrs but lol at the people who preach the “it’s actually going to create more and more interesting work than it will render obsolete etc etc” copypasta
someone has to start creating a society model where just 30% of the humans work (or humans work only 30% of the time), and the rest of the work is done by robots, or many people will struggle.
Perhaps it’s not that robot art will be better, it’s that it will be radically cheaper. AI is automation, and automation will ultimately render money useless. We’re witnessing the end of capitalism.
It’ll replace bad artists with visionaries who have more ideas than skill. It’ll allow everyone to have a unique work of art. It’ll make it easier for artists to embark on ambitious projects they wouldn’t have attempted otherwise
