In a surprising number of technical situations, Google Groups ends up as the glue that holds some very poorly designed Google cloud features together.
There's secure access lists for whole companies being managed by basically usenet groups. It's weird.

Yes it’s very weird they have a real access control system (Zanzibar) with Ganpati2 groups and yet they also have this bizarro parallel world with google groups. Had to do a lot of annoying access control stuff with those
