They are frightened of repercussions from Russia. They see the US not intervening on your behalf militarily, so they know they would likely fight Russia alone too except for instances of NATO intervention. Don't lose your faith. There are caring & heroic people in this world.

Of course they are not. But by showing solidarity against Russia, they place themselves in potential harm's way in the midst of an already treacherous conflict among nuke bearing super powers.

Russia sells a significant amount of oil to Europe and may fear collective EU members inflicting additional no buy/no finance sanctions on an already struggling Russian economy - Russia's stock market was closed again yesterday. Not everyone in the EU is against fast tracking.
