Some people described a scene from Saving Private Ryan that I do not remember (been a while) but I'm suspicious

Huh, I was under the impression that they were aiming for the engine vents of vehicles, but it seems like they're just going for...windows & hatches? It might as well be a smoke bomb from what this says, since that's the main "useful" part.
