There won’t be normal relations after this with Russia no matter the outcome. Claiming all of the former Russian territories was equivalent to crossing the rubicon. I’d wager relations would only normalize with Russian integration into the EU system … impossible to imagine r.n.

One of the things that make me so scared for the future. Putin showed he was a completely different creature than I thought he was. And now it's elea iacta est he won't give up, many people will die. People talk about an off ramp and stuff, but where do they see that possibility

The thing is, the only one who seems to have been unprepared for this reaction was … Putin. There’s been very little reporting on this except from the SZ, but only Lindner seems to have been aware of Scholz plan & probably the US admin. No one else. Not the greens

So the Q is why. Back in 2020 NGEU was cooked up by Scholz reportedly very much independently and then with Macron’s and vdL’s team. But it seems to me this was in the drawer of the ministry of finance all along. That’s why Lindner knew about it and not the greens.

My point is, Scholz has had a plan to deal with Putin all along. One that revises fundamentally many decades of German policies in many fields all at once. Unprecedented

As the past weak showed, I was right about a significant fraction of the soc dems. I still think r2g would’ve been an catastrophe and yes; I thought Scholz didn’t have it in him. Never have I been so relieved and happy to take a massive L tho, Scholz did make a difference

I tried to watch a German election debate but it was so boring I couldn't. The weirdest thing to me is that you have this 1 boring guy trying to paint this other even more boring man as some sort of great danger to Germany. It felt like postmodern theater lol
