Okay I've read in the past 5 years about Russia's military being modernized so it's kinda hard for me to believe today's invasion force was the A squad. Tragic theory is this was a soft opening to find easy defensive positions and the real troops roll in tomorrow.

Sounds tortured but maybe. There was also the recon team that surrendered immediately and seemed like they wanted to cry explaining they didn't know there would be real fighting Idk this just all seems too shitty to be the *real* russian military

Russia still has conscription and operates a lot of older equipment. Their modernization is kinda lopsided and logistical capacity is pretty poor in comparison to the west My take is they have a pretty small pool of excellent troops and a lot of mediocre to poor ones
