I just feel like we do this all the time and our lame ass leaders act like we're landing direct hits but then Russia keeps doing shit so I suspect we are not landing direct hits

Russia is the capital backchannel incarnate. It's raw goods. Iran might be a middleground. N Korea is on another spectrum where they have nothing to offer and demand stuff and we give them diapers or not.
