Dry shampoo seems too good to be true, has to be bad for my hair. But how bad?

I've vaguely heard of dry shampoo but never investigated
What's so good about it?

I have finicky hair that gets somewhat greasy by the end of the day when it’s long so dry shampoo is a convenient way to freshen up without having to take a whole shower
