@grim_fandango Of course BBC1 or BBC2 recordings on Philips format VCR tapes from 1974 must be the "holy grail" in terms of Ceefax recovery -
@htwcentral Yes, they would be in a pre-1976 format too, for which I've seen zero documentation! -
@grim_fandango Perhaps the BBC Written Archive would have some documentation (& if you ever had a recording it would be worth a look). -
@htwcentral You have to be an academic researcher to have access to them. Personal researchers aren't allowed :-( -
@grim_fandango Did hear of plans to make the archive more widely available but doesn't seem to have happened yet.

@grim_fandango Is this the earliest tape you've capped so far? Imagine how much tapes cost in '76... :) -
@illarterate Yes, the March one is. They were still using the old code tables intermittently before the switch to WST as we know it today.

@grim_fandango Do you pull the data out of the normal recorded TV signal, or are they actually TT recordings? -
@deKay01 From the recorded TV signal as recorded on ordinary domestic VCRs.

@grim_fandango Stunning. In your TV you had a colour graphical display whilst most mainframes at that time still printed to paper.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. Undo
