A reminder: the people in power don’t need conferences, treaties or agreements to start taking real climate action. They can start today. When enough people come together then change will come and we can achieve almost anything. So instead of looking for hope - start creating it.

Sweden’s ever expanding forestry has been criticised by the scientific community, indigenous Sámi villages as well as the climate- and environmental movement. The country and its industries often claim that we have record amount of forests.

The Swedish forestry model has been proven to be disastrous for both the climate, environment and Sámi indigenous- and human rights. We cannot let Sweden further impact the EU’s forest policies.

Climate strike week 243. Today I’m striking outside Sweden’s Representation in the EU, in Brussels. My home country Sweden currently holds the presidency of the Council of the EU. Next week ministers will gather in Sweden to discuss forestry, among other things. Thread🧵

I don’t know what is scarier, the fact that atmospheric CO2 just hit the highest level in human history, or that it has gone close to completely unnoticed…

“The rubber-stamping of such a project sends a message not just to our generation but humanity as a whole: The future of our planet & the present well-being of frontline communities are being sacrificed for short-term economic gain & political expediency.”

Today, after yesterday's #IPCC report, everything is back to normal – as always. We continue to ignore the climate crisis as if nothing happened. Our societies are still in denial, and those in power go on with their never ending quests to maximise profits. We cannot afford this.

It is getting even more impossible to ignore the climate crisis. The fact that people in power still somehow live in denial, and actively move in the wrong direction, will eventually be seen for and understood as the unprecedented betrayal it is. It is just a matter of time.

I am just appalled by the media coverage of 's decision to approve the Willow oil drills in Alaska. WHY is the framing "Biden vs the activists," when even the says that meeting the 1.5C target of the #ParisAgreement requires no new fossil energy development? THREAD

NEWS: The Biden administration has decided to authorize a mammoth ConocoPhillips oil project in Alaska, despite arguments from environmental activists who say it will push the world closer to climate catastrophe. bloomberg.com/news/articles/ w @JenniferJJacobs
