Hey #MedTwitter and #MedStudentTwitter what’s one piece of advice looking back that’s helped you learn, stand out, and assimilate to the expections of being a 3rd year? I start 3rd year rotations mid July and I’m trying to piece together all the information I can!

1/2 Going 2 b brutally honest. 1) don’t say in every rotation that you are considering/wanting to pursue that specialty! We realize it is not true & then u r not taken seriously 2) practice basic medical skills on every single patient that allows you. Listening to heart & lungs

i always like to quote the wise george costanza- “it’s not a lie if you believe it”
But do go into every rotation with an open mind thinking you might end up doing that for the rest of your life.1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -

if you have an open mind and say it earnestly you might be surprised how much more willing people are to get you involved and show you the interesting cases. the truth is your residents and attendings not as immune to schmoozing as we think, sadly
