I don't think he got approved by the FDA to make them but I could be wrong. If TRUMP didn't wait so long and Joe is having STATES BID AGAINST EACHOTHER we may not have this problem. At least ELON is doing something. Just don't understand the hate from some people.

Why does he have them in the first place?

Maybe he bought them. Is there any law saying he couldn't buy them. I just don't get all the bashing of a guy who's giving them away to help people. Would you rather he sell them to the highest bidder?

Still good questions. When did he buy them? Why did he buy them?

He bought it recently from China. Companies have global networks, differently from countries. It's easier to for them to do the logistics and there is far less bureaucracy as well. He is buying then in China and donating than free be grateful

BiPap machines, you mean. Good for patients that don't need to be intubated (intubation has its own risks) who can protect their airways.

Tesla actually sent out ResMed, Philips & Medtronic units. Latter is fully intratracheal. My personal opinion is that some ICUs are jumping the gun on intubation & setting PEEP & O2 too high. High pressure, pure oxygen increases risk of lung damage.pic.twitter.com/2IUnS5DPOg

I've heard if you took any healthy person off the street and put them on a ventilator, they'd likely have major life-threatening complications after a week or so. Apparently not to be taken lightly, this step.

Vast majority of “ventilators” are not intratracheal, but, yes, jamming a pipe down a patient’s throat & driving in high pressure, pure oxygen is definitely not how we evolved! My personal choice would be mask with moderate pressure at ~50% O2.https://www.usnews.com/news/health-news/articles/2020-04-15/are-ventilators-helping-or-harming-covid-19-patients …

CPAP Helmets @elonmusk - positive pressure resp support while protecting healthcare workers from aerosols for 1/100 the cost of a ventilator.https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1173466?__twitter_impression=true …
