We could make 1M ventilators tomorrow and it wouldn't help that much unless we could make 200,000 new ER docs appear, plus 500,000 nurses.

too much focus on vents that don’t scale (running out of ICU RNs, docs and sedating meds). We need the Italian CPAP helmets that can prevent intubation while also protecting HC workers from aerosolization (CPAP masks in US). We are intubating too early bc of this danger.pic.twitter.com/B77Ox8LFYx

Engineers doesn't know what needed and what not. In a hypothetical scenario where there are 100,000 cases are there at the same time, what you forecast will be the requirements ?

vents are useless without ICU nurses, RTs and docs to guide management. We are already running short on sedative meds. Best way to conserve vents is to avoid intubation but we are hampered from using noninvasive strategies by lack of PPE (cause aerosolization)
