step 1 pass fail is a bad thing.
With less objective differentiators, public biases show.
Harvard gets in > Wisconsin. Man > woman. White > non white. Extrovert > introvert. Tall > short. Thin > obese. Christian > nonchristian

Making Step 1 pass/fail gives hard-working, dedicated students time and space to set themselves aside in unique and impactful ways. This gets rid of one barrier for URMs and the disadvantaged student who can’t afford prep.

Exactly the opposite. Step 1 was the cheapest, easiest, most time efficient method for such students to set themselves apart. There are still other ways, but all of them are harder, take more time, more resources, and are far more biased against such applicants

agreed there’s a limited time to study for step1- you can only utilize so many paid resources, a drop in the bucket of med school costs and much cheaper than trying to get multiple away rotations.
