don’t use this
. all our intubations are done with some form of video (cmac or glidescope) which usually gives a solid view of cords. confirm w waveform capnography. unclear bow much goodness US brings in this context (would use if didnt have video)4 replies 0 retweets 7 likes -

I have done it few times just for it’s educational value but don’t use it routinely. Does it add anything to capnography?

From my review of the literature no one confirmation method including capnography is infallible.

I have to say that in the heat of the moment, I find sonographuc confirmation isn’t that easy (say a difficult intubation followed by concern for misplacement). Agree it’s just another data point at best. Would favor laryngoscopes confirmation > capno > clinical / POCUS

in order for test A (US confirmation of ETT) to add useful informatiom above and beyond test B (capnography), performance of test A should be considerably better than test B. dont think US meets this criteria. more data isnt always better

Honestly why do we need to over complicate things? What ever happened to the basics of looking for fogging/ chest rise and auscultation? These things in conjunction with ETCO2 better than anything else imho
