And for the creators -- how do we work this into our careers? Is this something worth spending our (very limited) free time doing?

I don’t have answers for these -- ultimately I podcast and make Tweetorials because I'm a huge nerd and I love doing it.

But we're walking into a brave new world of Meded, and I'm excited to see what happens, along with

#Medthread OVER! BTW, if you’re a resident, fellow, or faculty at BIDMC and want to learn HOW to craft a Tweetorial, I’ll be running a session of the@BIDMC_Academy on May 14th (you know it’s a new field when I’m considered an expert in anything!)pic.twitter.com/qwuJdDdsm9

1/ Really appreciate your thread and have thought a lot of these Qs.
@Marty_Fried and I gave a talk at@SocietyGIM last yr on critical appraisal of#FOAMed, which has been published on blogs and podcasts on by giants in the field like@TChanMD@M_Lin@Brent_Thoma1 reply 3 retweets 6 likes -

2/ We also did a couple of group activities on about the value of "post-publication peer-review" that
#FOAMed allows and this is a space to learn from each other and how to be "digital mentor" at your#institutionpic.twitter.com/N2wsu1pRcb

3/ How do we work this into our careers is something I deeply think about too and would love anyones input on it. For ex. I am told I need to up my ‘teaching portfolio’ but I put lot more time in making podcast than I do leading a resident report

4/ but the later is more valued than the impact of a scholarly podcast (!) Ultimately, how do we get
#institutions to see that#Medtwitter, podcasts and this community of conversations will led to better doctors, practices and less burnout?2 replies 2 retweets 8 likes -

5/ How do we show that there is just as much value in investing in these 'digital productivity' as buying out time for other 'scholarly productivity' or something else.

It is rather sad- I have colleagues who have authored chapters in books we don’t even have access to and no one will ever read. These CV padding activities count infinitely more than my twitter feed which alone gets 100-200k impressions per month.

Ill just go ahead and swap out “rather sad” for “completely absurd” for you...there! I’ll acknowledge I have some observation bias here, but this really needs to change! CC:
