Python's internals are bizarre: a + b and a.__add__(b) are actually NOT equivalent. In fact, it's virtually impossible to know exactly what happens when you add two objects together.

Thinking in first principles, in a way that is removed from temporal influence, is challenging and often frustrating. But it's also absolutely necessary to understand anything deeply

“Lisp is worth learning for the profound enlightenment experience you will have when you finally get it; that experience will make you a better programmer for the rest of your days, even if you never actually use Lisp itself a lot.” Eric Raymond

Learning SmallTalk or Lisp might not be considered ‘useful’ by consensus, but I can promise you there is very little else that will so deeply impact the way you understand other programming languages.

Long before there were Falcon Starship hops, there were the DC-X hops. Tested throughout the mid-90s, DC-X could fly from a standstill to 10,000ft and land automatically.

The claim in the FTI forensics report on Bezos’ iPhone that, “due to end-to-end encryption employed by WhatsApp, it is virtually impossible to decrypt the contents of the downloader [.enc file]...” bugged me so much that I coded up how to do it:
