I forwarded the link to the IRB at UMN. I suspect they will get several other emails from anyone following you that has had University training on experimenting on human subjects.

I also did so. This research is unethical and UMN needs to tighten their oversight.

As a UMN student this is very embarrassing. I hope UMN attends to this and is able to remedy these bad practices. I hope at some point our University is allowed to contribute again in good faith.

I would encourage you to complain to your division dean and organize with other students. If students do not complain-why should the administration act?

Doing that will help prevent this from happening in the future. If UMN IRB hears that this got such a reaction from you (and every other person involved), they'll clean up their act.
