Anyway, patches for security issues should be properly tagged. They're often *hidden* in changelogs these days...
And what to do with things that you only realize were "security bugs" after the fact? Like, um, 3 years after the fact (one famous bug fix of mine...)? Why wouldn't you upgrade to fix known bugs be they "security" related or not? What is the downside?

It's not question of my own upgrades. But you think widely used distributions will update their kernel every 3-5 days (usual release cycle) and push new version to their end-users? And will users reboot their systems every 3-5 days? I don't think so. Just operational experience.

If not, then you are using the wrong distro. Seriously. And yes, I know of a few that do, once every other week is usually good enough, but if you can't reboot your machine each week at the least, then your system design might not be the best :)

i mean, one downside is when you have ARM chips that require outdated and heavily modified kernel trees (i.e. literally every Android device) so you can't update and can only backport the security patches you know about :)
