I guess not only people, but also a lot of scripts trying to download the latest kernel automatically ;-)
scripts shouldn't be scraping the front page of http://kernel.org , there are better interfaces for that :) And I can't mark anything "LTS" until it actually can be "LTS" (i.e. not even a stable kernel anymore...)

hah, sorry, I didn't mean to imply that people scrape the front page (which is guess some nevertheless will do :-D ), I was more thinking about https://www.kernel.org/finger_banner or https://www.kernel.org/releases.json , which contain a "stable" line as well. Are there better interfaces then those?

Those are the best, json, while being a pain, can be parsed semi-sanely :)
