Normal "make path/to/foo.o" has this super long delay before actually building foo.o with current mainline, anyone else seeing this? It looks like 'make' is churning like crazy about somthing, maybe checking a lot of check header files?

FWIW, there's about a 3.5x difference for me between "time make fs/io_uring.o" and "time gcc <pages and pages of bla bla> -o io_uring.o" in -git.

About the same I see here, too. gcc time is pretty close to 1s flat, make fs/io_uring.o is around 2s in 5.3, and 3.5s in current -git.
