No for profit corporation has done anything selfless for the open source community. That includes Google, Amazon, and most importantly, original GitHub itself. Consider that as you think of all the good Google, Amazon, GitHub have done even if selfish.

It is similar to not trusting the people of a country even though the regime has changed (like after losing a war) and never trusting that nation or its people ever again.

I like that analogy a lot, but it cuts both ways. Pretending a country is a different country because they replace the frontman and several years pass is naive. That said, people (and corps) aren't binary, and forcing someone to be a biblical/Disney "evil" is counter productive.
