Yes. CDC screwed up on testing. They stumbled on communications early on. But please, let's put things in perspective, the largest portion of blame sits in the White House w/ @realDonaldTrump. I do believe any other President, of either party, would have handled this differently.

And think that any other Administration would have been faster to course-correct on early stumbles--like Cuomo did in NYS--rather than just tear up the rule book for dealing with epidemics.

Especially when you consider his defunding & discrediting them, along with every other scientific agency, didn't help with their testing & that he didn't want them to recommend masks because it might disturb the stock market.

WHO had a test they offered to sell the USA, but Trump vetoed it and wanted his pals in Big Pharma to profit by developing their own test.

I still no longer trust any public health info coming from admin, including cdc. Since they botched/slowed first test and sidelined Debra Messinger in February

There was no sense of urgency. No sense of danger. No sense of what was best to maintain public health. Dang it, there was just no sense to his behavior.

And even if bungled early on, would have harnessed resources to reverse course. The shift may have been flawed due to systemic racism + GOP resistance to expenditures other than tax cuts, but experts would have been tapped + we would be told to wear a mask to “do unto others.”
