One other thing about @BretStephensNYT's piece on @yale. Last summer, I tweeted about protesting ICE officials at their homes, giving shelter to immigrants. Campus Reform, a right-wing watchdog group, decided I had to be dealt with. 24 hrs later I was a Fox News poster boy. 1/

These groups target university professors, and unleash campaigns of hate against them. I had to call police, FBI, because I was getting death threats for weeks. 2/

There are hundreds of professors on this watch-list, some of had it worse than me, with one @wesleyan_u prof going on leave for a semester, leaving town until things died down. 3/

These "campus reform" groups are exceedingly well funded and have Fox to amplify their message. Now, @BretStephensNYT is doing the same. Putting a target on academics, many who are African-American, Latinx, women and LGBTQ people. 4/

.@BretStephensNYT here is worse than disingenuous, false. He has the right to say what he does. But he is part of a campaign that has terrorized many of my colleagues. This isn't a 20-something yelling at Nick Christakis. /5

It's calls, emails at all hours talking about how we need to get rid of HIV-infected fag professors, about showing up on my doorstep, talking about their proficiency with a shotgun. 6/

Targeting academics is one step in the road to fascism. I hope they aren't still giving you a hard time. Thank you for always speaking up for justice.

My sons attended a private, Quaker boarding school. @foxandfriends picked up a little story that grossly mischaracterized a humorous holiday dance performance there and ran several segments on it. 1/

2/ An utterly benign Dance teacher at an utterly benign school received a barrage of hate mail for staging an utterly benign piece. It's a private, faith-based school, which made the episode particularly ironic. They didn't even get the school's name or location correctly.
