Come for the gold standard criticism, stay for the road safety criticism.
The “spread” of car crashes happened mainly in the first half of the 20th Century. It is now to the point of what health organizations would call endemic. Basically, it doesn’t *need* to spread any more as it is everywhere! (Of course, it still does in many parts of America).
However, it is not spread evenly. Using old 2006 data, Mississippi and Wyoming has collision death rates that were more than 5 times higher than Maine and Ontario. People from Maine and Ontario should be genuinely afraid to drive in those states, but likely give it no thought.
Yeah, but how many in Asia?
Nearly 700 million people get a mosquito-borne illness each year resulting in over one million deaths. You're not factoring the difference in exposure. I.e., more people have sat in cars than have come in contact with the corona virus!
