so I did a first testdrive of MCU2 retrofit. I must tell you that IC2 is way-way more responsive and lag free compared to IC1 so whoever was telling me IC2 is equally laggy, you have not been using IC1 for a wile I guess. I can also confirm hw3 backup cam view is jerky somehow.
I cannot imagine why anybody would opt to NOT do the mcu2 retrofit after this experience (current component pricing around ~$1600 from junkyards). You only need: MCU2, IC2 and the new tuner (can skip that even, e.g. I don't have it yet, but then updates are complicated).
No harness changes needed which is a definite plus (was expected).
IC is the new "Screen only" instrument cluster. time depends on your ability to take Tesla dash apart (lots of annoying clips!) reprogramming details cannot be published for obvious reasons that I still want it all to be working in the future ;)

I am doing the MCU update ASAP since one of the cars will drive till its mechanically possible. At least 250K miles.
But also I am still using iMac from 2009 with SSD and memory upgrade.
Wow $1,600 is kinda steep. I thought Elon mentioned Tesla would do it for ~$2k.

What is the tuner for? Bluetooth 4.0?
