    Manchin has weekly huddles w/ Exxon & is one of many senators who gives lobbyists their pen to write so-called “bipartisan” fossil fuel bills. It’s killing people. Our people. At least 12 last night. Sick of this “bipartisan” corruption that masquerades as clear-eyed moderation.

    MANCHIN op-ed: “I, for one, won’t support a $3.5 trillion bill, or anywhere near that level of additional spending, without greater clarity about why Congress chooses to ignore the serious effects inflation and debt have on existing government programs.”

    Our thoughts are with everyone from the Gulf Coast to the Mid-Atlantic that is mourning and struggling in 's wake. We all deserve immediate and radical action to address the climate crisis and fossil-fueled super storms. 2/3

    At least seven New Yorkers, including a 2-year-old boy, killed as record rains from remnants of Ida pounded the city, sparking “catastrophic” flooding. The victims were all in basement apartments when they found themselves trapped by rising flood waters.

    We need a Clean Energy Standard that centers the health of the planet, communities, and people. We cannot continue using harmful energy sources, like gas, that pollute our air, water, and human health.

    5/ Eliminated jobs despite receiving government support. Some of these companies did end up cutting jobs in 2020, including Occidental (2600 workers), Devon (400 workers), and Apache (891 workers).

    4/ Many received significant bailouts in 2020 from the CARES Act in the form of favorable tax changes, Fed. Reserve bond purchases, & royalty relief for production on federal lands. Diamondback & EOG Resources were included in BailoutWatch's Hall of Shame.

    2/ AXPC oil and gas companies also incurred over $700 million in fines for environmental and other violations from 2000 to the present. Why do these companies still get generous federal tax breaks and incentives to drill?
