Hey it's another Bandcamp Friday this Friday, Friday, Gotta Get Down On Friday, so in case I forget, I've already changed the prices on all my still extant Bandcamp music to extremely reasonable $$$! Also I finally figured how to limit free streaming!

Missed an opportunity to do "Dream of a Thousand Cats" in the style of "Cats 2019", IMHO.

Well I guess we still don't know about season 2 but they knocked out a bonus episode of Sandman and handled two issues of Dream Country in one episode (they do know streaming isn't bound by ordinary rules and they could've done them as two short episodes? right?)

I named my first basecamp Ding-A-Ling-A-Delphia. If you let me name things they're going to get stupid names, we all knew this would happen.

I started playing No Man's Sky on a free trial of PC Game Pass and I really like it but would prefer to play it on my Playstation but I get a discount if I buy it with PC Game Pass plus I named my first planet Ring-A-Ling-A-Ding-A-Ling and I can't just start over after that.

Okay hear me out Squid Game season 2 but this time it takes the form of a Mario Party style board game with deadly traps on the human-sized board but also still life-or-death playground games in between rounds.

I was correct that Tatiana Maslany's charisma carries She-Hulk (the writing is also very funny) but unrelated I'm still mad about WB Discovery fucking up HBOMax. Infinity Train is the best sci-fi thing PERIOD in a long time and it's getting not just axed but PULLED FROM STREAMING
God FUCKING damnit now I have to drop everything and shotgun two seasons of Infinity Train because the CEO of Discovery is a fucking cretin. I hope David Zaslav gets shingles.

Of course that was before we had the twice-daily commercial flights to President Newt Gingrich's Moonbase. Powered by clean coal! In-flight entertainment provided by Atari! Make a video-call home when you get there courtesy of Bell Telephones! Don't touch any monoliths!

And remember the old days, before 2018, when interplanetary spaceflight took so long you had to go into suspended animation? Just a few short years ago if you wanted to go visit Grandma living in the bustling new Martian colonies, you'd have to take a years long nap? Dark ages.

Space Seed keeps talking about the Eugenics War in the early 1990s and now I'm just picturing the in-universe movie about the Eugenics War with the all Spin Doctors soundtrack.

They teased Season of Mists pretty hard which starts with a meeting of all the Endless (except Destruction), so I hope we get to see it, as my favorite thing about all of it is the wildly convoluted Sandman mythology and that one is full of wild shit.

As is we get a bit of Desire as part of the TV-esque throughline, one (half) episode of Death, exactly ONE SCENE with Despair, a few oblique mentions of Destruction, and a few mentions of Destiny and I think exactly ONE mention of Delirium.

It happens that my two favorite bits of Sandman (the Serial Killer convention and the 24 Hour Diner) are both adapted in the Netflix show but as I feared there was precious little of the other Endless siblings because they're not really in the volumes they've adapted.

Netflix Sandman series was everything I wanted except what I now what is for it to keep going and adapt the rest of the comic and knowing Netflix there's a good chance it will instead be insta-cancelled. It was good though. I liked it a lot.

Was testing controllers using a ROMhack of Mario 64 that does split-screen multiplayer and discovered that there is friendly fire. Luigi and Mario can finally FIGHT TO THE DEATH and then Luigi goes on to save the Princess for once.

Also apparently they shot the whole movie twice but the first version was unusable because the film got wrecked or something so they had to just make the movie again and maybe the lost original version was TOTALLY DIFFERENT from the existing second take.

I'm not like glad that people died making that movie that I think wastes a potentially really interesting idea by having three dudes wallow in dirty water and have pointless circular pseudo-philosophical garbage conversations I just think it's an interesting piece of trivia.

The two upsides to me watching the movie Stalker (and thinking it was boring and bad) are A: I now recognize jokes about the movie Stalker and B: I now know that a bunch of people who made it died from exposure to chemical runoff in the abandoned factory they filmed it in.

Somebody finally made my long-requested Red Dead 2 mod where cougars attack you during cutscenes!
Throwing aside any cynicism or detachment in this moment and allowing myself to get unabashedly intensely FUCKING PSYCHED for The Sandman series.

Every time YouTube throws me an unskippable ad I should get a cut of that. Just a penny or two. Make me less violently angry every time I see the same bullshit ad over and over again. Just sayin'.
Apropos of nothing (*wink* for those in the know), but while it's not my personal favorite necessarily, I have always thought that Balance of Terror is probably the best episode of Star Trek, period.

The Cage isn't the best episode, classic TOS sure but still shaggy at the fringes, but there are a bunch of ideas in it that get reused later in, admittedly, mostly worst episodes (an element of Spock's Brain makes it in there) but damn if they're not solid sci-fi nonsense.

Also when they painted Susan Oliver green to be an Orion they kept reshooting the scene with more intense makeup just trying to get her more green until they found out the film lab was unclear on the fact she was SUPPOSED to be green and had been "fixing" the color in the scene.

In the original TOS pilot when Pike is offered a choice between Number One and Yeoman Colt because he keeps rejecting Vina, that whole scenario is someone's fetish. (Roddenberry's? MINE? We'll never know.)

I'm noticing it with Amazon Music lately too though. I just watched a Netflix thing set in the 90s with just so much grunge that they managed to include three separate Pixies tracks, and two from Doolittle, so Amazon Music recommended Doolittle.

This became hilarious/terrifying when I was rewatching Crazy Ex-Girlfriend a while back and YouTube consistently would recommend a clip of the song from the episode I had just watched.

One of those weird "all the companies sell your data to all the other companies" things I've noticed is, with Netflix in particular I feel, whatever I've been watching, I go over to YouTube and my recommendations invariably have shit hyper-targeted to that content.

One of these days somebody's going to make a meta-pastiche slasher movie who actually understands and likes slasher movies and isn't just sort of half-remembering the first Scream movie and maybe a vague recollection of a lesser Friday the 13th sequel.
I'm tired of only terrible right wing politicians being in feuds with Sesame Street Muppets for terrible reasons. I'm going to feud with Cookie Monster about whether cookies are a "sometimes food" and also with Snuffleupagus about the subjective nature of observable reality.

Aw poo it went long enough between scans that when it jumped from Japan to America it only ended up jumping back in time by 2 hours. That's hardly at all! Marty McFly would be ASHAMED. You wasted PLUTONIUM for a 2 HOUR JUMP?!? DOC BROWN DIED FOR THAT PLUTONIUM!!!

Just about the only thing keeping me emotionally afloat in this moment in history is that my mom told me that in Russia it is widely believed that Putin poops in his briefcase.

Still fondly reminiscing about that scene in The Northman when Anya Taylor Joy slapped menstrual blood in a guy's face. Rapidly forgetting everything else in that movie. Also Bjork was in it but I didn't notice until the end credits so I didn't appreciate the stunt casting.
