Thanks for writing this! Fwiw, the mod team can and does lock entire conversations, we've just been reluctant to use it in anything but egregious cases. (There are a lot of upcoming discussions about this space though)

The comments on language design are true but (perhaps from too much an insiders view) not entirely helpful; most languages don’t follow that curve because their authors knew where the limit was, but because they felt the language was finished

I like the idea of "negative space". I've no experience with language design but it seems sensible in many large scale design / architecture contexts.

It also includes throwing away what doesn’t work, and that is a very painful process
