    I want to see a movement away from delegating cognition to artifacts and towards the positive reconstruction of the human mind and environment through the internalisation of advanced operations. I want to live in a 21st Century memory palace, not a computerised mirrored funhouse.

    We don't even have the software equivalent of hammers. ...It's easy to think up unintended uses for hammers, and the physics engine of reality is robust enough to allow those uses. Much harder to think up an unintended use for software, and have the software permit that use.

    Best demo I saw at was created by indie dev & uses handtracking to create a ghost-like & diffuse sense of embodied presence.

    The tracking volume was sufficiently wide, reaching the edge of the FOV fine On a couple of occasions the hand models swapped left and right hands facing backwards which happens on Leap v4 as well

    Given that it’s an early-2020 beta there’s time to continue honing Most of the affordances in the mad scientist’s lair demo were pinch or poke interactions, with no graspable objects, so I can’t speak to more active manipulations

    After playing with the Quest’s hand tracking at : I’d put it at ~60% Leap Motion’s fidelity ~200ms latency was most distracting Finger occlusion was comparable Pinch interactions very solid Any fast movements immediately freeze at the hand model’s last known location

    Do y’all reckon the spatially-aware U1 chip might afford some level of >60Hz 3DoF positional tracking? Wondering if this is usable for 6DoF hand tracking of the Apple Watch as AR spatial input. Any guesses on spatial resolution?

    I hope that spatial UI for long-term use is designed/placed to encourage good posture perhaps moving higher or fading out as slouching increases Could users set the UI to not just encourage but enforce good posture? Is this sort of self-conditioning analogous to a shock collar?

    what have you noticed about maintaining identification with the external bodily representation? Do you have to be facing the same direction for it to feel like “you”?
