McConnell pushed through and confirmed more than 220 lifelong appointments in Trump's 4 years. Schumer has confirmed 9 of Biden's as of August 31. Just 9. Hope our Senate is enjoying their 5 week long recess. Tick tock.

Once again, another week has gone by, and Louis DeJoy is still postmaster general. How is this not a national scandal?

Ridiculous that this took eight months. Biden should have cleaned house immediately. More important removals needed: * Wray * DeJoy (via firing Bloom) * Garland (should have never been hired) * Walensky (would be *so bipartisan* to fire her; does Biden not value bipartisanship?!)

Insane that it's a live possibility that "what happened to US democracy?" might be answered with "there was a pro-democracy and an anti-democracy party, and when the pro-democracy party had power, some members prioritized preserving a minority veto for the anti-democracy party."

Biden's "nightmare" numbers remain 10 pts higher than were Trump was 4 yrs ago. did you *ever* hear pundits use "nightmare" language when Trump was polling 34% in 2017?

This framing is so disappointing. “Red & blue states moving in opposite directions.” “Some tightening…some loosening.” No. The story is the passage of voter suppression laws which are fundamentally anti-democratic. Obscuring the threat in both-sidism is part of how we got here.

once we recognize that urban design is, at its core, the design of human relations, we begin to understand why Americans are suffering a crisis of loneliness and why our lack of beautiful, functional public spaces is an urgent matter of public health

If Labor Day was proposed now Mitch McConnell would counter-propose a special Saturday where everyone works for free to honor corporations. And the media would say: Which brave Democrat is actually willing to work toward compromise?

Everything wrong with the media. Meet the Press preferred having a non-lawyer conservative white-guy pundit over any number of women law professors or civil rights lawyers who are actually experts in this area.
