Ok, I'll give my best shot at what happens when you get a Ph.D. in math. They take you to a secret room and give you equations that solve all nonlinear problems and tell you to keep them secret else we'll all be out of a job.

Tata lectures on Theta: it's not really a secret that there are closed form solutions for a fair number of nonlinear problems, it just requires being a studious reader and following references. (that having been said 'nonlinear' is nonequivalent to 'positive lyapunov exponents')

one does have to wade through a lot of pop-math that retells history poorly or states things that are vastly out of date or stated with poorly expressed conditionals.
