Ok, I'll give my best shot at what happens when you get a Ph.D. in math. They take you to a secret room and give you equations that solve all nonlinear problems and tell you to keep them secret else we'll all be out of a job.

one does have to wade through a lot of pop-math that retells history poorly or states things that are vastly out of date or stated with poorly expressed conditionals.

I believe there r general solutions to all equations. U could solve linear equations with non linear methods and call this a general solution.
