can you construct a laser in a raytracer?

But a laser depends on the interaction with a medium, which fills the space between the mirrors. It is a quantum effect, when a laser photon hits an excited atom, it makes it release its extra bit of energy along.

so, I will have to experiment. It won't be a laser and it's not light, but it'll be fun to see what happens.

I don't think raytracers track phase. If they did, you might still simulate laserlight interacting with the scene.
