That would be a coral-like rippled sheet, @graveolens ! At a certain radius the ripples would get so dense that it looks like a sphere, which can't be extended any further.

This is also the same transform that takes stereographic <-> gnomonic in spherical geometry.
@TilingBot implements its hyperbolic orthographic projection this way, though I should prove it is correct. I suspect so but am not sure.
